LIGHT BULBS – LED VS INCANDESCENT BULBS
21 Jan 2020
The incandescent light is our traditional light bulbs. They are widely used in residential and interior lighting. They produce light by heating the filament to a temperature and the filament is surrounded by transparent glass bulb that is filled with inert gas. And these bulbs are very cheap to purchase and they are available in all wide range of voltages, also they work in both AC and DC power. Incandescent light have better ability to render color, The CRI of a incandescent bulb with color temperature 2700K is 100, As the color temperature increases the CRI value drops down. They have the worst energy efficiency on the market, Most of the energy they consumed dissipates as heat energy. And they have short life span around 1200 operating hours. Even though it is cheap to purchase because of its high maintenance cost now a days they are not used everywhere.
LED is Light Emitting Diode ie.LED BULBS. Diode is a electrical device. It has two parts ie, electrodes (Anode and Cathode) When electricity passes through anode to cathode light is produced. And the diode is made of semiconductor materials like silicon or selenium. When electricity flows through this solid substance visible light is produced.
The major advantages of the LEDS are they have a long life span ,good quality have a life span around 50000 to 100000 hours or more . And they are more energy efficient than any other lighting technology, because they dissipate very less energy in the form of heat and have very high light quality and low maintenance cost . In conclusion we can say LEDS are much better than incandescent bulbs.
